GE Energy Unit Pays $5.1 MM To Ex-Starbucks Lawyer

The energy division of General Electric Co. compensated Rachel Gonzalez, its new general counsel, with over $5.1 million in 2023. This came after her dismissal from the same position at Starbucks Corp. the previous year.

At 54 years old, Gonzalez transitioned to GE Vernova Inc. in April 2023. Prior to this, she had served as general counsel for Starbucks from 2018 to 2022, receiving a severance package of nearly $12 million due to a leadership change within the Seattle-based company.

Gonzalez's compensation from GE Vernova included a base salary of $675,000, over $1 million in non-equity incentive plan compensation, and approximately $2.4 million in stock awards, as outlined in a filing by the Cambridge, Mass.-based company. Additionally, she received around$950,000 in other compensation, primarily comprising relocation and tax benefits.
